Without a doubt, While She Sleeps are back. With only three singles released so far from their latest album 'You Are We' (due to be released on April 21st) in my mind it is already a very strong contender for album of the year. Silence Speaks starts off with a pretty tranquil guitar melody, with harsh vocals layered over the top building up into to the first verse. The chorus in this song particularly stands out to me, I love the way that the main guitar riff and backing vocals harmonise together, and it gets stuck in my head for so long afterwards. When I go and see While She Sleeps in April I'm sure that hearing this live for the first time is going to be an experience I won't forget.
Honestly it did take me by surprise that Oli Sykes was featuring in this song, but I think his voice fits in extremely well and he brings something quite exciting to the song, not to mention it will undoubtedly attract a wider audience. I really like how we get the rawness of Oli's vocals, and then it transitions straight into an extremely chilled out bridge before breaking into the guitar solo. Another thing I love about While She Sleeps is that their sound never seems to change too much. We still get that traditional 'sleeps-ey' sound, with clear links back to previous albums yet somehow you can still tell how much they have evolved and are progessing incredibly as a band.
I have heard nothing but love for the singles that have been released so far, While She Sleeps clearly have an extremely supportive fan base and I really cannot wait to hear the rest of this album, I'm certain that it is going to be extremely special and one of their best releases to date.
Rating: 9/10
